Hey Comic-book types:
Mar. 9th, 2004 10:45 pmI'm starting to pull together my shot list for my fourth year film. As some of you may know, it involves comic books, and I want the whole thing to feel as close to a live action comic book as possible. Any of you graphic artists out there (or anybody who just really pays attention to comic book art), are there any tips and tricks for panel composition that could be applied to a film frame? Any poses that are specifically 'comic-y'? Any specific ways of framing characters that is usually found in comics? I've noticed a lot of extreme close-ups of eyes, but is there anything else? Any pattern to deciding what kind of frame follows the next? Are close-ups usually followed by another close up? A splash page? A head and shoulders medium close up? A full body shot?
Any little compositional rules of thumb you guys have noticed or used would be EXTREMELY helpful as I construct the look of my film.
Thank you so much! :)
