Update from VIFF
Oct. 5th, 2005 11:05 amWell, since my film cost about $10,000 to make, I am doing my best to squeeze $10,000 of free food and movies out of this festival. I did a pretty good job yesterday, seeing 4 movies and then going to the reception and eating something made out of bison and pickled eggplant that was no doubt expensive.
Tonight is my first screening (9:30 pm at the cinematheque!!) and afterwards I am headed to the Mondo Canuck Party at the Railway Club for all the Canadian Filmmakers (I apparently am one) and producers and stuff. I'm hoping actors will show up, because my only real celebrity sighting was Jamie Bamber. Also, I am on a first name basis with the screenwriter of Ray and he gave me a ride to the Trade Forum in his Very Nice rental car.
My favorite movies so far have been:
Fiction: A Simple Curve and Yasmin
Doc: A Souvenier of Canada (Douglas Copeland is around here somewhere...) and This Divided State
Short: Big Girl and Esc
Also, the doc Icebreaker was surprisingly amusing. Yay for Canadian movies!
Well, I think I'm going to make a pass by the hospitality suite for some FREE!!! banana bread and then head to a Doc.
