Faxed off resume and cover letter to Lost today. *crosses fingers* I'll call them to confirm and ask questions in a week.
Vancouver and London Film Festival applications are done, as they require no additional materials, life stories, photgraphs, ect. Gah. Why do they need all this stuff from me now!? They won't use it unless I'm selected, so why waste the energy and postage? :P *kicks Cork and Hamburg... but not really, because I want them to accept my film.*
The 'automatic' application to Montreal is not so 'automatic', it seems, as SFU has never had all digital films to send out before and have no idea of the format they should be sent in on. So I must go up to school on Monday and transfer my film into whatever format they require. Then that's Montreal done.
Kevin Smith's film festival is an absolute money grabbing scam. Glad I read the fine print on the release form... Turns out if your movie is accepted into 'MoviesAskew,' Kevin Smith will OWN it. Which would suck, because then I couldn't submit it to any film festivals... I'd be PAYING Kevin Smith $25 to TAKE my movie. Which is retarded... and not really technically a film festival any more... it's more like a 'pay for possible distribution' thingee. *kicks Kevin Smith*
In other news, I went to the Tape House the other day (one stop shopping for all your video stock needs!) and Estelle, the nice Australian lady at the front desk, came running out of the back room to tell me that my movie was hysterical. I picked up 10 VHSs, boxes and labels for about $10. Sweet deal. Is it wrong that VHS and DVD packaging makes me a little giddy?
Also got a nice compliment from a second-year up at the film building today, and Corbin, the Film Building Tech God, asked for a copy of my movie, so I gave him a spare VHS.
Also, in weirdness news... on the day I faxed my resume to Lost, a friend of mine e-mailed me and said he had ticket 815 to my film screening. That would be the flight number of the plane crash in that show. I choose to think of it as a good omen. A creepy, creepy good omen. :D
